  FM MILOSOSKI:
MACEDONIA DOESN'T TRADE WITH ITS NAME

It's easy for Greece to show off with European finances, but we're not traders, we are and we will remain Macedonians and it doesn't depend on Greek money, said Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki, commenting yesterday's statements by Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Dora Bakoyannis that Athens will allocate economic assistance to Skopje unless it easies up about the name issue.
Answering journalist questions after Monday's meeting with Peter Milliken, Speaker of Canadian House of Commons, Milososki informed that so far there was no official announcement by mediator Matthew Nimetz on possible new meeting involving Macedonia and Greece's name negotiators.
He also focused on the bilateral agreement with the U.S., which is due to be signed on May 7 in Washington by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.
- We expect to sign an agreement for enhanced bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Macedonia and U.S. For us the agreement is of utmost importance. It will once again confirm that Macedonia remains on the Euro-Atlantic integration course and invests in the strategic partnership, which is already established with Washington.

  SCHEFFER:
MY PERSONAL AMBITION IS TO SEE MACEDONIA
IN NATO

My personal ambition is to see your country in NATO. I believe that Euro-Atlantic integration is crucial for the stability of this region, stated NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer after meeting Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Milososki.
- I'm optimistic and looking back is of no use. I want to look ahead and I hope everyone else wants the same in order solution to the name issue to be found, Scheffer emphasised. He said he understood why the Bucharest NATO Summit was such a disappointment for Macedonia.
Scheffer elaborated that he was in Skopje for talks with the Macedonian Government on determining how the process might be accelerated.
- You can do two things - to look back with anger and to look ahead. I want on July 9 when Albania and Croatia will be signing the NATO accession protocol, to be joined at the table by a third nation - your nation, the Alliance's head stated.
As a NATO Secretary General I have no direct role in the name process, he stressed, the role belongs to the UN and mediator Matthew Nimetz.
- I'll be concrete as I have been with your Government. I cannot be an instrument in this process, but I can help. You have the opportunity as of now till July 9 to find a name solution, Scheffer said.
He expressed hope that the June 1 early parliamentary elections would be free and fair and that the name negotiations would resume as soon as the elections were concluded.
- NATO is an alliance based on the principles of consensus and all 26 members should reach an agreement on every decision reached by the Alliance. Unfortunately, this wasn't possible in Bucharest, but I hope it will possible very soon, the NATO Secretary General noted.
Jaap de Hoop Scheffer after meeting Monday in Skopje with President Branko Crvenkovski and Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, left for a working lunch with Minister of Defense Lazar Elenovski.
