  SAN FRANCISCO TORCH ROUTE SWITCH
ANGERS SPECTATORS

The Olympic torch's only stop in North America turned into the mystery of the missing flame on Wednesday, as San Francisco abruptly changed the torch route, angering both China supporters and protesters who had waited hours to see it.
Thousands of people converged along the announced scenic waterfront route for the passage of the torch. But shortly after a brief opening ceremony, the first runner, flanked by tall, blue-clad Chinese security officials, disappeared into a large waterfront warehouse.
The torch was a magnet for chaotic demonstrations in London and Paris in the last week over a range of China issues from China's crackdown on Tibet last month to human rights. Beijing, embarrassed as it prepares to host the Olympics, has strongly condemned the protests.
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom told Reuters that the route had to be radically changed at the last minute or the event cancelled to ensure public safety.
"We assessed the situation and felt that we could not secure the torch and protect the protesters and supporters to the degree that we wished," Newsom said by cell phone. "As a consequence we engaged in subsequent contingency planning that we felt would keep people safe."
The bewildering changes united supporters and protesters divided by politics by angering both sides over the sudden change during the only relay leg in North America on its journey to the Beijing Olympic Games in August.
A planned closing ceremony on the waterfront was also scrapped.

"MACEDONIAN ETHNOLOGICAL FILM PANORAMA"
IN ZAGREB

Ìuseum of Macedonia will present project "Macedonian Ethnological Film Panorama" in Zagreb's Ethnographic Museum on Thursday and Friday.
The project chronologically presents the development of Macedonian visual ethnology, from its first emergence at the beginning of the 20th century up to present.
The beginnings of visual ethnology in Macedonia are presented with two films of the Manaki brothers, the organized production of documentary films from the mid-20th century through two films by Vera Klickova, whereas contemporary production is presented by films of ethnologists Elizabeta Koneska and Vladimir Bocev.
The project has already been successfully presented in the Macedonian Cultural Center in Sofia, and the Ljubljana Ethnographic Museum.

DEPUTIES TO DECIDE ON PARLIAMENT DISSOLUTION

Macedonian Parliament on Thursday will hold the 114 session to discuss a draft-decision on its dissolution.
Opposition party Democratic Union of Integration (DUI) filed a motion for the Parliament dissolution, which says Macedonia is going through a difficult period that requires rational actions. All of the ongoing processes, such as the misunderstanding with Greece, meeting of EU membership criteria demand full-capacity functioning of state institutions.
DUI's motion has been supported by ruling VMRO-DPMNE. The party's Executive Committee reviewed late Tuesday initiatives submitted by the two largest opposition parties - one for Parliament dissolution, and the other for composition of a technical Government - deciding to propose to the party Central Committee to support the former, i.e. Parliament dissolution.
The VMRO-DPMNE Executive Committee passed such a conclusion as a result of the Parliament's inefficiency, permanent obstacles by opposition parties in the process of adopting reform laws, and abuse of Parliament for vulgar political marketing by certain political groups.
The opposition SDSM says that it will vote against the concept for early parliamentary elections.
There are two options for Macedonia, to call for elections, which means forgetting of all priorities and reforms, or it will do everything in its power by September to get a date for the EU entry talks, and by yearned - an invitation for NATO membership, SDSM leader Radmila Sekerinska said.
DPA leader Menduh Thaci also supported the initiative for early elections.
Leader of the ruling coalition Liberal Party Stojan Andov was against the motion for Parliament dissolution. MP Zoran Vitanov, who has frozen his membership in the ruling coalition SPM, considers that the initiative for Parliament dissolution is Greece's desire. LDP, NSDP, Party of Free Democrats and MP Gjorgji Orovcanec also said they would not support the initiative.
At least 61 deputies should vote in favor of the move. If adopted, the Parliament Speaker is to call for early elections.
