CORNERSTONE OF NEW SARAJ POLICE STATION LAID

Interior and Health Ministers, Gordana Jankulovska and Imer Selmani respectively, British Ambassador to Macedonia Robert Chatterton Dickson and Saraj municipality mayor Bekim Fazliu laid Wednesday the cornerstone of the new Saraj-based police station.
- The laying of the cornerstone in fact demonstrates Government's determination to persist on the difficult road towards Interior Ministry reforms together with our partners from the international community, Interior Minister Jankuloska emphasised.
- The start of the construction of this police station for us is not only a project in the domain of preserving the public order and security, but it is also a project whose profound importance encompasses the ongoing improvement of the inter-ethnic relations, thus meeting Government's responsibility to provide legal protection for all citizens of the Republic of Macedonia, said Minister Jankuloska.
She said the objective was clear - to promote Macedonia before the united Europe and the world as a country that observes the democratic, normative and security Euro-Atlantic standards.
Health Minister Selmani said the laying of the police station's cornerstone was practical implementation of the law on police, under which the local self-government, together with MoI, would work on enhancing the citizens' security.
Given the occasion, Ambassador Dickson extended hope that the police station would contribute to building mutual confidence between the police and the citizens.
- An important headway has been made in terms of police modernisation, especially with the new police law, adopted in 2006, said Ambassador Dickson.
According to municipality mayor Fazliu, the Saraj police station would be a genuine service to the citizens, guaranteeing the future development of the municipality.
