THERE ARE NO EFFICIENT
MECHANISMS
“And despite the increased presence of the Albanians in the police, the
reforms that should stop the discrimination against the minorities are
advancing very slowly”, was said in the Amnesty International’s statement
for human rights.
The leading world NGO for protection of the human rights estimates that the
local elections didn’t secure secrecy of the voting, whereupon many Albanian
women couldn’t vote personally. The Rom women are also discriminated, for
which is confirming that they don’t have access to education, because they
don’t have Macedonian citizenship.
The organization is noticing that Macedonia hasn’t got efficient mechanisms
for family violence’s punishing. From 100 cases of family violence turned in
the vicinity of Tetovo, appeals have been addressed to ten persons, and only
one has been convicted.
In their statement for Macedonia, Amnesty International are wondering why
the former commandant of NLA, Daut Redjepi Leka, who has been present at the
pre-election meetings, has not been arrested by warrant from 2004 in
relation with the kidnapped Macedonians in 2001. |
