TAKING A SITE IS A
RETROGRADE PROCESS - BUCKOSVKI SAYS TO VARTOLOMEJ
In the letter from the Cosmic patriarch Vartolomej addressed to the
president of the Government of Republic of Macedonia, d-r Vlado Buckovski,
delivered on 19th of October 2005, it is said:
“Dear Excellency,
With great pain we follow the prolonged static if not retrograde, to the
decision regarding to the long-term and changeful totality of the “body” of
the Holy Orthodox Churches - for church’s problem of your country.
We can’t hide the impression of our Holy Mother of God the Great Church,
regarding to it the country over there didn’t play the required constructive
role, it saw the whole question probably under an ethnic prism and stayed on
the opinions which are little bit in conformity with for ages old valid
church and holy canons’ rules. Surely, you can react that that is also done
by the Serbian government. But with this Patriarch letter we are specially
addressing to Excellency of yours and we underline the necessaryment for
urgent change of the way of managing the problem by the Government, because
the God’s solution is aridly being filibustering with your last opinion, and
that, as the facts point out that you’re also properly understanding it, has
direct consequences to the overall governmental base of your government.
For example, the Mother Church has addressed with a requirement by an
official letter to us and required mine intermediation for releasing of the
Holy Bishop Mr. Jovan.
In the previous letter addressed to the Mother Church in august you
mentioned him as any ordinary citizen of your country, which is not in
agreement with the basic rules of cultural behavior and to the respect of
the Ecumenical Patriarch.
That’s why if it’s true, as we believe, you covet the regular solving of
this church problem, you should hug, in my opinion, the Church’s thinking,
because there is no other except this Holy Spirit unlighted by the Holy
Fathers of the church, to bring out the Holy synod rules, according to
which, the overall church’s body is been polities and controlled.
With this, with Our father God’s bless, we are remaining with deep love and
respect”.
The president of the government of Republic of Macedonia, d-r Vlado
Buckovski, answered to the Cosmic Patriarch Vartolomej:
“Holy Patriarch of Constantinople,
To new Rome and all Ecumeny
In your last Patriarchal letter you discovered to us your real spirit pain
about unsolved church problem in our country. We’re sharing the same trauma
with you, and very clearly we understand your sadness which in years behind
it wasn’t find out any decision about the church issue.
But, we can’t understand you and with base misgiving we ask you as bearer of
the constructive role in this painful process, are we the real address about
the qualifications “static and retrograde” spoken by you, the first among
the equals’ orthodox episcopes?
The doubt and stigmata which you expressed in your letter, specially
addressed to me equally are confusing. It isn’t also clear when you speak
about the direct consequences over the overall state base provided that the
country oversight the canon law, designated against the ethnos or will of
the nation about the church issue.
In Macedonia almost half of a century an organized orthodox church exists as
renewed Ohrid’s Archbishop in the icon of the Macedonian Orthodox Church.
Let me say that we remove your concern about our existence as a country with
joyful news about the positive opinion by the European commission.
Our reality is the strengthened and dynamic stepping towards euro
integration processes in the family of the European nations.
On the basis of the constructive recommendations, and on the bas of
constitutional principles of the detachment of the country from religious
communities and groups, we are on the opinion that the churches should find
out a decision for the church’s problem.
The Macedonian Government, with which I preside, is being evaluated by the
relevant world and international institutions that generally she respects
the human and religious laws of her citizens and makes conditions for her
continuous existence.
The role by the Constantinople’s patriarch I understood it always as
impartial in mediating between sister’s orthodox churches.
We appreciate that retrograde process is taking a site in conditions of
unsettled relations between MOC and SOC. Also, appointing that someone have
position of Mother Church doesn’t contribute in solving the issues with
other historical truths.
The Macedonian authorities will remain in supporting the secularity of the
state and will continue in guaranteeing the freedom of confession, as it is
given in the European convention of human rights and freedom.
The Government is stating that the value of the religious tolerance which is
deeply ingrained in the Macedonian society will remain in protecting and
motivating in Macedonia”. |

later than January 1st 2006, Kosovo is threatening that will increase the

be ratify till the end of the year and they report that if that doesn’t
happen in estimated period, trading with Kosovo will be regulate in
accordance to the old agreement for free trading with Serbia and Montenegro.

speeding the procedure for ratification of the Agreement for free trading
between Macedonia and Kosovo.
The temporary agreement, which provides high degree of liberalization of the
trade, both of the sides signed up it in September this year, and its

MACEDONIA TO PUSH BALKANS
TOWARDS EU, FRATTINI SAYS
Macedonia represents a factor that will push the rest of Western Balkans'
countries towards the European Union, the Vice-president of the European
Commission and Commissioner on Justice, Freedom and Security, Franco
Frattini said Wednesday after the meeting with Foreign Minister Ilinka
Mitreva in Brussels.
Mitreva initiated the visa regime issue for Macedonian citizens and Frattini
announced that the European Commission in the beginning of the next year
would prepare an Action Plan for facilitating the visa regime, separately
for every country, depending on their progress on the road towards the EU.
As MIA's correspondent reports, the facilitation will be applied only for
students, businessmen, journalists and employees in the sphere of science
and education.
FM Mitreva informed Frattini that in the Government's agenda of priorities
were the changes of electoral legislation, in which the recommendations of
OSCE/ODIHR would be included. He said that for Macedonia it was important to
implement the judiciary reforms.
Frattini committed for more intensive cooperation between SEE countries in
the fight against the organized crime, saying that it is not only a problem
for Macedonia, but it is a regional problem.
Meeting European Commission's Vice-president, FM Mitreva ended her visit to
Brussels.
INDEPENDENCE OR AUTONOMY FOR
KOSOVO, NICHOLAS BURNS SAYS
There are only two options for Kosovo - independence or autonomy in the
frameworks of Serbia and Montenegro, but the decision should be made by the
Serbs and Albanians from Kosovo and Belgrade authorities, the US
Under-Secretary of State Nicholas Burns said in the interview with Dnevni
Avaz newspaper.
Czech Prime Minister Jiri Paroubek said that he saw a third option. After
his visit to Kosovo, he said that he didn't see a possibility for Albanians
and Serbs to live together, and as a compromise solution he pointed out the
division of the province.
"A possible solution could be a division of Kosovo territory according to
ethnic principle - the north part will come under Serbia, and the bigger
southern part could have a status of independent state," Paroubek said for
the Czech daily Pravo. |
