  STABILE MULTIETHNIC RELATIONS

Interethnic relations in the Macedonian society are for the large part stabilized, and although it exists, the communication between Macedonians and Albanians is selective. The biggest problem are the prejudices, frustrations and fear, that is the evaluation of the Council for interethnic relations, which is part of the project “Light”, which was realized by the Institute Euro Balkan.
As it is stated in the press release, at their last session the Council evaluated that the interethnic communication among Macedonians and Albanians is between a 100% on the market till 0% on the field of intermarriages, which says that Macedonia is still a divided society.
Incidents with ethnic dimension, like, Kondovo, Struga, Celopek, although they don’t have enough energy to cause a bigger conflict, they still have manage to underline the interethnic relations in the country as unresolved and problematic. Among other issues and problems, which reflect negatively on the interethnic relations, are the bad economic condition, unemployment and poverty, which affect most of the population from all ethnic communities. In order to overcome this sort of condition, the Council recommends that it is necessary to open the canals of communication and affirmation of other topics by the Albanian political forces on which they can promote and realize their ideas, and not to insist only on the ethnical dimension in their relations with the Macedonians. Similar they recommend to the Macedonian political forces that it is time for bolder steps, because the initial energy for integration in the case of Macedonia must come from the top. It is time for the country to fully take the initiative and responsibility and to finance programs for the strengthening of communications, but with a long-term goal and more comprehensive plans.

The terrifying bird flue is closing to Macedonia, while in Turkey seven people are hospitalized under the suspicion that they are infected with the human variation of the bird flue. Romania is testing whether they also have the deadly virus which killed 65 people in Southeast Asia, as well as millions of birds. Our neighbors have already made plans for the protection of the bird flue. They are educating the owners of the companies, and the citizens with leaflets about the symptoms the disease. For the Macedonian authorities- there is no need for panic.
“We have a temporary ban on import of chickens form those countries where the bird flue has already appeared”, Agim Ramadani, the chief of the cabinet of the Ministry of agriculture stated.
Watching the wild birds is also an option, and the ministries for agriculture and health until now didn’t establish any commissions which will keep track of the situation. In the RZZZ they are expecting the first tests for diagnosis, and protective gloves and masks are being purchased.
According to epidemiologist, the illness is transferred only form bird to man. On impact are the bird farmers. The disease is deadly to humans, with symptoms of high fever, pain in the joints, and inflammation of the lungs. While the authorities are hoping that the bird flue will fly over Macedonia, the Institute of Medicine Erazmos from Rotterdam predicts- a pandemic that will engulf a fifth of the population of the World.

HURRICANE WILMA FORCES EVACUATION

Local authorities have ordered the evacuation of tourists and non-residents from the low-lying Florida Keys island chain, amid fears that Hurricane Wilma could strike the southern US state.
Wilma, which is also threatening Mexico, has swelled into an "extremely dangerous" Category 5 storm, becoming the strongest hurricane on record in the Atlantic, the US National Hurricane Centre says.
"Emergency management officials decided to move up the timetable for emergency actions because of the increased intensity of the storm, which is now a Category 5," Monroe County's emergency management office said in a statement.
The office has jurisdiction over the Florida Keys, which extend from Florida's southern coast.
Some 80,000 people live along the Keys, which are linked to the mainland by a single highway.
"A local state of emergency has been declared by county officials," the office said.
"All visitors and non-residents must leave the Keys starting at noon today. Also all state parks will be closed, residents and non-residents in recreational vehicles and high-profile vehicles are also ordered to leave," it said.
Local officials believe Wilma could strike the island chain sometime between late Friday and Saturday.
The hurricane is located some 550 kilometres south-east of Cozumel in Mexico and is slowly whipping west-north-west toward Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, but it is expected to turn toward the north-west within 24 hours.
At 1200 GMT, winds at the centre of the storm were roaring at 280 kilometres per hour.
The Florida Keys weathered Hurricane Rita in September without heavy damage, although some areas were flooded.
