A TAX FOR TRANSPORT ON THE MACEDONIAN OIL COMPANIES

Kosovo has further tightened the import for the Macedonian oil companies by enforcing a new tax of 100 euros per truck for the use of the roads in the province. This new tax will have to be paid by all oil exporters.
UNMIK has confirmed this latest decision of the province. The tax is called - a transport tax. Macedonian authorities are again in the dark about this. Both members of the ministry for economy and the customs office shrug their shoulders.
A classic racketeering, this is how the people of this business describe this last move by the province and ask, for what kind of roads are they paying a 100 euros for, when they don’t have any highways there.
For the last two months the Province has managed to strike several serious blows to the Macedonian economy. They have cornered the government. Without a finished free trade agreement - the Kosovars have unilaterally enacted this customs duty . Immediately after that a new business attack followed - they made Macedonian transporters to ask for licensed Kosovar firms, if they want to transport oil to the province.

  MONEY FOR THE WINEGROWERS

The government is prepared to set aside 45 million denars from the budget for a stimulation package for the winegrowers so they can change their types of wine, like smederevka, which represents a problem during the buyout, as well as for them as for the wine companies. The way of allocation of these funds will be decided by the Ministry of Agriculture, in cooperation with the winegrowers and the wine companies. This was promised by the Prime Minister Vlado Buckovski on the meeting with Veljo Tantarov, the president of the Farmers Union, Panco Manev, the mayor of Kavadarci and the representatives of the winegrowers of Kavadarci, Negotino, Gevgelija and Rosoman.
“It’s a small found of money, which won’t cover even a fraction of our demands. We demand 200 million denars, and the state must find them because this category of farmers contribute a 100 million euros to the budget”, the farmer’s leader, Veljo Tantarov, stated after the meeting.
