A REMEMBERENCE OF THE
EMPEROR ALEXANDER THE GREAT
On 22 of July 356 B.C, in the ancient city of Postol, in the Macedonian
capital, the Macedonian emperor Alexander the Great, the son of Philip the
Second of Macedonia and Olympia and student of Aristotle was born. In his 33
year of life he left a lasting mark in the history of the human
civilization. He died between the 10 and the 11 of June 323 B.C in Babylon.
With his champagnes, during which his army crossed 18.000 kilometers, he
created an empire that hasn’t existed before or since, till this day.
It a long part of history and it’s only a part of Macedonia, from the birth
of the Macedonian emperor, the most famous military commander in history of
the human civilization, who enriched the world, and gave the world the
ancient Macedonian culture! |

AMERICAN SUPPORT FOR
MACEDONIAN ASPITARIONS
At the inquiry in front of the Senate commission, the future ambassador of
the USA in Macedonia, Julian Milovanovik, pointed out the dedication for the
continuation and deepening of the cooperation between the two countries. She
also stated the American support for the Macedonian aspirations for
membership of NATO and the EU. According to Milanovik, the relation between
the USA and Macedonia is based on common values and ideals- the dedication
to freedom and democracy, the respect of the fundamental human rights of all
of the citizens and the strengthening of the institutions based on democracy
and market economy. In front of the Senatorial commission she pointed out
the stand of the United States President Gorge Bush for the buildup of the
stabile relations in Europe. |

THE LAW FOR THE USE OF
FLAGS WAS INACTED
The president of the Republic, Branko Crvenkovski, has signed the Act whit
which the Law for the use of the flags will come in to power.
The Law for the use of the flags of the communities got a pass only from the
parliamentarians of the SDSM and DUI, while the opposition parties from the
Macedonian and Albanian block didn’t vote.
The Law was in accordance with the Framework agreement and represent
multiethnic Macedonia. According to the Law, the Macedonian state flag must
also be used obligatory.
In 16 municipalities in front of them as well in side and the state
institutions the Albanian flag will be permanently displayed, and in two the
Turkish one- in Centre Zupa and in Plastinica. The ethnic flag will be
displayed in the municipality of Suto Orizari. The members of the community
have the right to use the flag in private as well. In the municipalities
with the majority of the population is a member of an ethnic community the
state flag will be displayed in the middle, the flag of the community- two
meters to the right of it, and the municipality one- two meters to the left. |

BOSKOVSKI AND TARCHULOVSKI REMAIN IN SHEVENINGEN
The Court Council of the Hague tribunal decided to reject the motion of the
lawyers of Lube Boskovki and Johan Talchulovski for the possibility of
defending them selves from freedom. The defense lawyers of Boskovski and
Tarchulovski, the lawyers Dragan Gojo and Antonio Apostolski, received the
decision of the Hague. The minister of justice Meri Mladenovska-Gorgievska
pointed out that the government of the Republic of Macedonia can provide the
presence of Boskovski and Tarchulovski in the Hague at any time the Tribunal
asks and to prevent any kind of influence on the witnesses, victims or any
other persons.
“But, it is the right of the Court on the basis of all the fact and the
evidences, and the guarantee is just one of the circumstances that the Court
takes in to account when it makes it decision. The guarantee, regardless of
what Government is question, is just one of the circumstances, and the
decision of the Court Council in any case is not founded specifically on the
guaranties that are provided by the Governments, but on the basis that the
evidence of every specific case”, Mladenovska-Gorgievska added.
According to her, the defendants now have all the other instruments that can
be used for the protection of their rights in the continuance of the
presiding. |

THE ACTIVITIES OF THE
WMYC
The delegation of the World Macedonian Youth Congress (WMYC) every year
holds important activities all around the world and in the country. This
year, the summer part of its calendar was filed with several activities and
visits. The delegation of the WMYC from the European states has met with
Martin Vucic, this year’s Macedonian representative to the Eurosong in Kiev,
Ukraine. The next activity of the WMYC was the visit and the reception of
the Department of emigration and the Ministry of foreign affairs. For the
60th anniversary of the victory over Nazism and the last reinstatement of
the Macedonian state, the delegation of the WMYC made a reception at the
first president of the Republic of Macedonia. Also, for the 1100 anniversary
of St. Naum Ohritski, the WMYC made and reception at the head of the
Macedonian Orthodox Church, his holiness Archbishop of Ohrid and Macedonia
Mr. Mr. Stefan. During the worm welcome the delegation of the WMYC
congratulate the 1100 anniversary of the St. Naum of Ohrid, ad well as his
choice of the tree bishops of the MOC: Mr. Pimen, Mr. Methodij and Mr.
Clement. |

THE END OF THE 43RD
“GALICNIK WEDDING”
On the 17 of July, in the church of “St. Petar and Paul” in Galicnik, with
the wedding of Todor Jurakovski and Lidia Danilovska, ended the 43 annual
cultural-tourist manifestation of the “Galicnik Wedding”. The wedding was
executed by archmandrin Partanie, the head of the monastery of “St. John
Bigorski”. At the wedding visitors from all over Macedonia where there.
During the manifestation a large number of authentic wedding rituals were
performed, folk songs and reels.
In the past the weeding rituals lasted for weeks, but now the wedding starts
at Saturday night and end on Sunday after noon. This year, differently from
the previous the “Galcnik Wedding” was modest probably on account of the
previous problems. |

FM MITREVA RESUMES THE VISIT TO TURKEY
Macedonian FM Ilinka Mitreva Thursday resumes the two-day visit to Turkey.
She will meet her host Turkish FM Abdullah Gul and Turkish President Ahmet
Necdet Sezer.
The talks will focus on development of bilateral co-operation, especially on
economic plan, intensifying the political dialogue and exchange of
experiences in the process of European integration.
As scheduled FM Mitreva is to meet with Ali Babacan, the main Turkey's EU
negotiator and State Minister for Economy.
Turkey is one of the first countries that recognised the independence of the
Republic of Macedonia and first that opened Embassy and appointed Ambassador
to our country.
The two countries established diplomatic relations on August 26, 1992.
Macedonia opened general consulate in Istanbul in 1996 and Turkey opened and
appointed general consul on July 7, 1998.
OVER 500 STUDENTS MAY ENROLL AT DISPERSED FACULTIES IN STIP, STRUMICA
The Government's decision on dispersed study program improve conditions for
a development of the entire country, Deputy Minister of Education and
Science Tale Geramitcioski said Wednesday after a meeting with Prime
Minister Vlado Buckovski.
The program offers current and future students at the Economic, Law, Medical
and Agricultural faculties of Skopje University to attend their lessons at
the dispersed faculties in Stip and Strumica.
Building of the higher education capacity is one of the basic prerequisites
for boosting the economic development of certain regions, Geramitcioski
said, adding that the program is part of Macedonia's commitment to meet the
principles of Bologna Declaration.
Over 500 students may enroll at the dispersed faculties, Skopje University
Rector Gjorgi Martinovski said, which will allow them to study near their
homes considering the fact that many of them cannot bear the costs for
studying away from their palace of residence.
