TEROR IN LONDON
On July the 6th some parts of London woke up in dust and ashes. With a
series of terror attacks, 3 in the London subway and one in a city bus, the
capital of the United Kingdom was attacks. The latest information from
Scotland Yard say that there are 97 casualties, 25 are missing and at least
700 are injured. An unknown group of Islamic radicals, linked with Al Kaeda,
has taken the responsibility for the explosions in London and announced new
attacks in other European cities, above all Italy and Denmark. The terrorist
attacks were the reason for the interruption of the G-8 summit in Scotland,
after the British Prime Minister Tony Blair stated that “the attacks are
barbaric” and returned to London to take over control of the emergency
situation. The terrorist attacks happened a day after the Summit in
Singapore for the Summer Olympic games was held on which the capital of
Great Britain was awarded the candidacy for the organization of the games in
2012. According to witness accounts, the roof of the double-decker bus blew
up near Russel’s square at the Kings cross railway station, and another two
busses were destroyed in the vicinity. Also a couple of subway stations were
targeted in seven coordinated attacks. All of the explosions happened in the
morning traffic jam. The police threw out the possibility that suicide
bombers shattered the subway station and the bus and is convinced that the
group that carried out the attacks is still at large and maybe planing
further attacks. It is assumed that the group has more reserves of the
explosive. The police have already confirmed that the three bombs in the
subway were in a few seconds interval between each other.
According to unconfirmed sources, sophisticated explosives and time
detonators were used and the bombs were placed in such of way as to cause as
much damage and human casualties as possible. A global search for known
Islamic extremists and professional bomb makers like the Moroccan Mohamed al
Gerbuzi, linked to the bombing attacks in Casablanca in 2004 in which 33
people died, as well as the Syrian Mustafa Satmariam Nasar (47) for whom it
is speculate that is hiding in Iraq was started. On the list of suspects
there are more than 30 people.
As far as the Macedonian immigrants that live and work in the United Kingdom
are concerned, the MFA has no information about any of them being injured or
killed in the terrorist attack. The British media write that nothing can
brake the spirit of Londoners, that the air raids and bombs of Nazi Germany
from Second World War and the terrorist campaign of IRA didn’t achieve this
and neither will the terrorist. |

THE STORM IN MACEDONIA
CAUSED DAMAGES
After the storm in Kocani the teams of the Ministry of agriculture went out
on the field and came to a conclusion- the damage wasn’t big.
It will be estimated in due time, that is after the municipalities will form
special commissions for that. The first estimate is that the damages are
about 2.000.000 denars. 12 houses are damaged and 40 more are flooded. 870
hectares of land are destroyed. Most of the damages are to the vineyards,
orchards and rise patties. The counter hale rockets were not fired because
of the heavy thunder storms which were a threat to the employees. In
Strumica where the floods is the most urgent the river beds and drain canals
are not cleaned. The dams are stabile, although additional rains can worsen
the situation. In the UHMR admit that if the problems are not removed in
time, the next rains may be catastrophic. |

AGAINST THE DISLOCATION OF
THE CITY HOSPITAL
When it comes to the initiative of the Ministry of health for the
dislocation of the city hospital to the premises of the military hospital,
the position of Coordinative comity of the city hospital is that the
dislocation will negatively reflect on the current organization of the
surgical services in the city of Skopje, which in the current conditions
work as a triangle: the Clinical Centre, the City hospital and the Military
hospital. The disintegration of this kind of a system will mean the
disruption of the complete giving and receive surgical and health care. That
will negatively reflect of the efficiency to the health of the public. Such
rush actions not only that are not a positive step towards reforms in the
health care, but are irrational actions which are badly reflected on the
users of the health care services. |

NETHERLANDS SUPPORTS MACEDONIA'S EU,
NATO INTEGRATION
Macedonia is the "weak spot" of Dutch people, and the Netherlands will
continue to assist the country in the implementation of reforms aimed at
Euro-Atlantic integration, Dutch Foreign Minister Bernard Bot said Wednesday
after the meeting with his Macedonian counterpart, Ilinka Mitreva.
Bot stressed that the Netherlands fully supported Macedonia's ambitions for
NATO and EU membership. Mitreva confirmed this fact, adding its significance
having in mind that Macedonia expected a positive avis from the European
Commission regarding the membership application by the end of 2005.
The meeting also focused on the EU situation following the rejection of the
Constitution in the Netherlands and France. Mitreva received assurance that
the referendum results would not influence EU integration of countries
within the stabilization and association process.
"We expect valuation on the basis of Copenhagen criteria on our path to the
EU. In this regard, the possibility to use of Dutch expert assistance and
cooperation, especially in the part of judiciary and internal affairs, is of
huge significance", Mitreva stated.
Minister Bot emphasized that the Constitution's rejection in the Netherlands
would not have an impact on the Union's integration processes.
"We will not backtrack from our commitments, and in that spirit we support
Macedonia in its efforts to begin EU accession talks", Bot said, adding that
one should first wait for the avis in October or November.
The two interlocutors also referred to the possibility for liberalization of
the visa regime. Mitreva reminded that during the Dutch EU presidency, the
Netherlands initiated the beginning of a dialogue between the European
Commission and Macedonia, expressing hope that Macedonian citizens would be
able to travel to EU countries with fewer restrictions.
Furthermore, Mitreva thanked Bot for the latest Dutch grant amounting at
Euro 6,3 million for Macedonia.
"Our future task will be to turn the Netherlands from one of the biggest
donors to one of the largest investors in the country", FM Mitreva stressed.
