Disavowed Macedonian
cultural and historical inheritance of the first Macedonian states symbols
The creators of the first Macedonian orders reacted about the recent
promotion of the states orders and medals of the Republic of Macedonia that
happened in the parliament under the protection of the Cabinet of the
President Branko Crvenkovski.
Its about Goce Durtanoski (design) and John Todorovski (computer
processing), which are authorized persons of the Oak tree Design Studio from
Holland. They have made the first Macedonian order Solem Imperii Macedoniae
(Sun of the Macedonian Empire) for the needs of the World Macedonian
Congress.
The first Macedonian order Solem Imperii Macedoniae was officially
inaugurated in Paris, January 2004 by the World Macedonian Congress, when
the order was given to the great friend of Macedonian and Macedonian people,
the expert of constitutional law, Robert Badenter, at the same time declared
with the title “Macedonian senator”.
“The cabinet of the President Branko Crvenkovski once more, this time trough
the states decorations, wanted probably to imposed the neologism “100 years
Ilinden – 100 years Macedonian country” and the memories from the socialist
revolution. On the chosen design of the first Macedonian orders and medals,
unfortunately is dominating use of the grain, which was main characteristic
of the states symbols of the all former Soviet republics and in the former
Yugoslav federation”- says Durtanoski and Todorovski.
According to the statement of collaborator of the Cabinet of the President,
Robert Mitevski that the five orders and two medals are made according to
the European cultural traditions (?!), the World Macedonian congress
concluded that those orders are satisfying the norms of China and Cuba, so
with right Mitevski could be called “expert of socialist defect”.
“ It seems, that after the World Macedonian Congress promotion of orders and
medals, the government puts end of this open question, important mark of the
state. The World Macedonian Congress is sorry that the Cabinet of the
President of the State, Branko Crvenkovski has disavowed the rich cultural
and historical inheritance of the Macedonian people and of Macedonia, that
could be applied on the first Macedonian orders and medals”, says from the
WMC. |

the death of Jane Sandanski on April 24 in the Monastery Rozden. They have

they say, this place was taken by other organizations. In other words, by
the Bulgarian journalist agency “Fokus” and the association “All Bulgarian
together”. With the buses, on the grave have came people with Bulgarian
flames and with partial marks of VMRO of Krasimir Karakacanov, which
considerate himself as successor of the supreme VMRO. Problems with the
domestics also have members of KUD “Mirce Acev” from Skopje, which were hold
by the Bulgarian police for four hours on the borders.
The organizers of OMO PIRIN have steel put flowers on the grave of
Sandanski, the police didn’t stop them, but has advised not to winnow the
Macedonian flames. The tension between Macedonian organizations and the
Bulgarian VMRO has ended with quarrel, so one side has blamed that they sell
the Macedonian aim, and others that Macedonian nation is fabrication and
they are denting the Bulgarian roots. The grave of Sandanski was visited by
delegations from the Ministry of foreign affairs of Macedonia and the
Macedonian embassy in Sofia.
On April 23 OMO – Ilinden has celebrated on the monastery Rozden. Still,

death of Nikola Karev
On the April 27 it will be hundred years from the heroic death of the
revolutionary, the organizer of the Ilinden rebellion and president of the
Republic of Krusevo, one of the coryphaeus of the Macedonian liberation
movement, Nikola Karev. As a member of the plead of the Macedonian
revolutionaries from the end of the XIX and beginning of the XX century, he
has shown the revolutionary ideas from its epoch in the best way, expressed
and integrated liberations aims of the Macedonian people. Nikola Karev was
born in 10 November 1877 in Krusevo and he grows up in hard historical time,
unbearable sociable-political and economical-social conditions in the state.
Feeling the bitterness of the dark Turkish governing has made deep trail on
him and that was the reason for his dedication to serve to the holy war of
his people for freedom and human rights. |

FREEDOM HOUSE: MACEDONIA RANKS AT
110 PLACE REGARDING PRESS FREEDOM
In regard to the freedom of the press Macedonia ranks at 110 place, in a
group of countries with partly free media, according to the report of the US
Association for Promotion of Democracy - Freedom House.
In the annual report "Freedom of the Press 2005: A Global Survey of Media
Independence," Freedom House measured the level of press freedom in 2004 in
194 countries throughout the world.
Macedonia is placed after Albania, Congo and Honduras, and before Tanzania,
Nigeria and Niger. Last year Macedonia was ranked at 111 place.
According to the survey, five countries improved in category while two
declined. In addition to Ukraine and Lebanon, Guatemala and Guinea-Bissau
moved from not free to partly free, while Namibia moved from partly free to
free. Only two countries - Pakistan and Kenya - registered a negative
category shift in 2004, moving from partly free to not free.
Ukraine moved from not free to partly free after a popular, democratic
revolution led to the relaxation of pressures on the media. Lebanon moved
from not free to partly free as a result of increased diversification of
private media. Other, subtler gains were noted in the Middle East, in
contrast to setbacks in the Americas, Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and the
former Soviet Union.
In terms of population, 17 percent of the world's inhabitants live in
countries that enjoy a free press, while 38 percent have a partly free press
and 45 percent have a not free press. This situation represents a decline
over the past year, as the percentage of people who live in countries with a
Not Free media environment has increased by 2 percent.
Best-ranked countries are Finland, Island and Sweden, while Burma, Cuba,
Libya, North Korea and Turkmenistan almost haven't independent media.
