PM BUCKOVSKI MEETS ECUMENICAL
PATRIARCH BARTHOLOMEW
We'll do our best to close a 50-year problem and the Macedonian Orthodox
Church to acquire a canonical path, Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew said
Wednesday after meeting Macedonian Prime Minister Vlado Buckovski.
Buckovski said that the role of Constantinople Patriarchate would be crucial
for putting an end to the dispute between the Macedonian and Serbian
Orthodox Churches, MIA's correspondent reported from Istanbul.
The Macedonian PM expressed satisfaction with Patriarch Bartholomew's
sincere intention to solve the problem between both churches.
"Some problems may not be solved by Presidents or PMs, but by good will,"
Buckovski said, adding that Macedonia's Government, Parliament and all of
its citizens support the efforts for resolving the dispute between MOC and
SOC.
Patriarch Bartholomew expressed hope that Macedonia and Turkey would soon
join the European Union, while Buckovski invited him to visit Macedonia.
MOC representatives - Metropolitan of Australia and New Zealand and
administrator of Prespa and Pelagonija Eparchy Petar and Metropolitan of
Debar and Kicevo Timotej - also attended the meeting.
This afternoon, Buckovski will close his official visit to Turkey by a
meeting with representatives of associations of Macedonian emigrants in
Turkey.
