  FM MITREVA'S MEETINGS IN FINLAND

Macedonian Foreign Minister Ilinka Mitreva, who is paying a two-day official visit to Finland, had separate meetings Wednesday with her Finnish counterpart Erkki Tuomioja, Parliament Deputy Speaker Markku Koski, Parliament Grand Committee Chairman Jari Vilen and Foreign Policy Committee President Lisa Yoakonasaari.
At the meeting with Tuomioja, Mitreva referred to Macedonia's progress in meting the Copenhagen criteria, as the only prerequisite for the European Union membership.
The Ministers also discussed on the development of Macedonia's economy, because, as Mitreva said, the Government intends for the country to also become a successful economic story. For Mitreva, now is the real time for investing in Macedonia - a message that will be delivered tomorrow at a presentation of the Macedonian economy to Finnish businessmen.
"This year is crucial for the process of Macedonia's Euro-integration. We expect the European Commission positive avis this fall, which is grounded on the statements of support and encouragement by Euro-Commissioner Olli Rehn. We expect for the positive avis to be followed by acquiring a candidate-country status at the EU Summit in December and setting the date for start of membership negotiations," Mitreva said.
The Finnish Foreign Minister welcomed Macedonia's progress on its road to the EU, saying that Finland is ready to share its experience with the integration process and economic development. He said that Macedonia had chosen the right path to the Euro-integration by launching reforms in the judicial system, combat against organised crime and corruption.
Parliament Deputy Speaker Markku Koski gave credit to Macedonia for its progress in the last three years, saying that the country has become credible partner.
Mitreva's meeting with Parliament Grand Committee Chairman Jari Vilen was focused on the parliamentary cooperation. In that respect, Vilen said a Finnish delegation would visit Macedonia this year.
Mitreva presented Macedonia's foreign policy priorities to Foreign Policy Committee President Lisa Yoakonasaari.
