AGREEMENT FOR PROTECTION OF THE MINORITIES
The main themes on the meeting between the President of Serbia and
Montenegro, Svetozar Marovic and Macedonian state authorities were the
bilateral relations and the situation in the region. Marovic has also had
meeting with the President of The Republic of Macedonia, Branko Crvenkovski,
with the President of the Parliament, Ljupco Jordanovski and with the
Prime-minister Hary Kostov. |

THE RELATIONS WITH
RUSSIA ARE THE PRIORITY
The
President of the Republic of Macedonia, Branko Crvenkovski gave the
following statement for the newspaper “Moscow comsomolec”: “The presence of
the Russian Federation on the Balkan is not only logically needed but is
necessary that presence to be increased. That makes the attitude of the
International Organization more complete, so the relations of Macedonia with
the Russian Federation are the highest priorities of Macedonia. |

THE
MEDICATIONS WILL BE WITH LOW-COST
The Director of the Fund of health insurance, Nikola Panovski has made an
announcement that this institution will provide the right of the citizens to
buy low-cost medicaments as well as to choose more expensive ones with
certain additional payment, starting from July,15. According to the Fund’s
estimations, the new tender will provide savings of 26% on the list of
medicaments for primary prevention and 6,72% savings on the hospital list. |

UNPROMITED
BUILDINGS ON THE COAST OF TIKVES LAKE
There are more than 1000 unpromited buildings on the Coast of Tikves Lake,
which are real threat to the function of the hydroelectric power station
“Tikves” and to the survival of the biggest artificial lake in our country.
This warning was given by the authorized people of the municipality
Kavadarci and by the hydroelectric power station with purpose to make the
state authorities more aware about the urgency of stopping the further
building of new illegal objects on this coast. |

NEW FREE OF CHARGE NUMBER FOR INTERNET
The civil association “Center of Electronic Net” is asking from the state
the equal and free connection to Internet to be provided for all citizens by
conducting a new free of charge phone number for Internet. “In this way the
citizens will have free connection with Internet, so this will be possible
with a number which will be provided by the Macedonian Telecommunications”-
this explanation was given by Zlatko Nikolovski from “Center of Electronic
Net”. |

RAILWAYS ARE STRIKING AGAIN
The trade union of the branch “Harrow of trains” of the public company
“Macedonian Railways”, will be striking again on July 21. The reasons for
this strike are the unsettled wages for the last four months, the material
expenses for this month, unpaid contributions for pension and invalid’s
insurance and the bad working conditions. The railway men are angry to the
Government because it didn’t completely conduct the law for “Macedonian
railways”. |

INDUSTRIAL
PRODUCTION IS IN DECLINE
The industrial production in May, 2004 is lower for 15,2% than in April,
2004 and for 26,6% than in May, 2003. The industrial average production in
May, 2004 is lower for 31,5% than the average one in 2003. |

THE VALUE
OF THE CONSUPTION BASCET IS 9.987 DENARS
The value of the consumption basket for one household of four members,
accounted by the retail prices, is 9.987 denars for the previous month. That
is lower value for 1,7% in comparison with May,2004. |

THE HARVEST
OF TOBACCO HAS STARTED
The harvest of tobacco, for this production season, has started in region
near Prilep. There are planted 500 hectares more than last year, so in this
region there are 4200 hectares under tobacco. The tobacco manufacturers are
hopping for higher purchase price. |

LAST YEAR’S PRICES ON THE COAST OF THE OKHRIDA LAKE
The number of tourists in Struga is under expected one, besides the fact
that the prices of this year’s arrangements are the same as the prices of
last year’s arrangements. The first wave of tourists has not brought the
expected number of visitors on the coast of Struga. The tourist workers are
complaining that the number of 1000 tourists in the total capacity is not
very optimistic. |

MEMORIAL
STATUE OF BORIS TRAJKOVSKI IN STRUMICA
In honor of the second President of the Republic of Macedonia, Boris
Trajkovski, who was tragically lost in a airplane accident, his native town
Strumica will erect a monument. According to the decision of the Council of
the Municipality Strumica, this memorial statue will be placed in the small
city park and it will be erected till the February, 25 2005- one year after
this tragically event. |

JUBILEE OF THE FOLK FEST IN TETOVO
This year’s jubilee “Folk Fest in Tetovo” will be realized on monastic
patronal celebration of the big Orthodox red-letter day, the Thrivetion of
the Holy Mother of God. This festival will take place in the monastic
complex “St. Anastasij” in the village Lesok, on August 27-29, 2004 and it
will be under patronage of the President of the Parliament of RM, Ljupco
Jordanovski. |

BOYCORTING FOR THE “NIGHTS OF POETRY IN STRUGA”
The civil association for protection of Struga has made a suggestion to the
Council of the Municipality Struga, that this town, as a host of the “Nights
of poetry”, can give notice to hospitality of the participants on this the
biggest Poetic Manifestation in the world and can freeze all the activities
for it’s organization. All this will be done in order to express the revolt
of the not satisfied citizens because of rejected referendum. |

SILJAN AND GILEVSKI WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE CONGRESS
IN ATHENS
The poets Rade Siljan and Paskal Gilevski will participate in the
International Congress “Defense of the small languages vs. the
globalization” on July, 8-12. This congress is one of the activities which
are forerunners of the Olympiad. Our poets on the congress will go at the
personal invitation by the Ministry of Culture of Greece. |

BEER, GRILL AND MUSIC IN PRILEP
The second international festival of grill and beer in Prilep has finished
after four days’ celebration under open sky, in the center of this town.
This much beer, grill, visits, fun and friendly atmosphere would not had
happened to Prilep if the organization of “Beer fest” has not made the real
touristy Mecca out of Prilep. The stands of the 8 breweries and 14 stands
for grill were visited by more than 250 000 visitors. On this festival were
drunk 10 000 liters of beer from the Brewery in Prilep for two days only. It
was pure luck if a free sit was found among 250 sits of the stand of the
Brewery in Prilep. |

FORUM ON INTENSIFYING BUSINESS COOPERATION BETWEEN MACEDONIA AND SLOVENIA
"There is a base for intensifying business activities and increasing the
investments between Macedonia and Slovenia," Macedonian and Slovenian Prime
Ministers Hari Kostov and Anton Rop concluded at the business forum on
Friday in Skopje.
"The Government's role is to create the common business conditions, to
intensify the cooperation between business subjects and to find solutions
for possible problems in the frameworks of the legal regulations," Kostov
said, ordering to Macedonian and Slovenian businessmen to intensify the
previous contacts.
According to Rop, such meetings are an excellent opportunity to exchange
experiences and to agree new projects and investments, which will result in
export and import increase.
"We have made a lot of investments in the last year. Such trend
continues, but we also expect foreign investments. I would mention the
"Renault" investment of Euro 400 million," Rop said.
Macedonian Minister of Economy Stevco Jakimovski pointed out that the
customs administration in the country functioned very well, but the
corruption was an exception not a regulation and all foreign investments
were welcomed.
The business forum in the frameworks of the visit of Slovenian high
delegation led by PM Anton Rop includes many Macedonian and Slovenian
businessmen.
THE NETHERLANDS TO CONTINUE FINANCIAL SUPPORT FOR MACEDONIA
Macedonian Foreign Minister Ilinka Mireva Thursday in Hague met Dutch
Minister for Development Cooperation Agnes van Ardenne.
Van Ardenne pointed out that the Netherlands noticed improvement of the
social, political and economic progress in Macedonia and would continue
financially to support the country.
Mitreva expressed gratitude for the continual financial support of the
Netherlands for balance of payments, macroeconomic stability and the
development processes of Macedonia, adding that Macedonia is a stable
country directed to the economic progress, and before all to find ways of
attracting foreign investments.
Mitreva also visited the International Court of Justice in Hague.
She met the representatives of the clubs of Macedonian immigrants in the
Netherlands. |
