Gorge Atanasoski

Mr. George Atanasoski was born on February 18, 1952 in s. Marul - Prilep, Macedonia of father Alekso and mother Spasija. He is one of the most successful Macedonian businessman in the world, Macedonian by nationality and Eastern Orthodox (Pravoslaven) by religious affiliation. Since 1985, he is married to Christine and they have four children. His sister Violeta is a Cardiologist and his brother Josif a very successful businessman in Florida, now working together with Mr. Atanasoski.

Mr. Atanasoski began his career as an engineer working for New York University. In 1975 he co-founded along with his brother Josif their own firm, Microflex Inc. which grew to become a multi-million dollar manufacturing corporation of flexible metal products. Their industrial complex is located in Ormond Beach, Florida, but much of the business is done internationally with varied industries including the Petro-Chemical industry, NASA, Automotive, Power Plants, the Aircraft Industry and Ship-building industry, etc.

In 1996, Mr. Atanasoski co-founded and became president of MAK AM International Corporation. MAK AM is an international trading company with offices in Florida, in the United States and Skopje and Prilep in the Republic of Macedonia. MAK AM's main emphasis is importing and exporting of goods to and from Macedonia.

Mr. Atanasoski became a member and later secretary (1974-80) of one of the oldest Macedonian organizations in North America, the Macedonian Society of New York. This diverse organization promotes the advancement of the Macedonian nation, its history and culture. Through his work in the MSNY, Mr. Atanasoski unified the Macedonian community by sponsoring socio-cultural events including folk festivals, symposia, poetry evenings, sporting events and the like. Mr. Atanasoski also worked with the U.S. government to promote human rights for Macedonians.

Mr. Atanasoski is most active in promoting democracy in Macedonia. He is the chief organizer of the defense of the Macedonian name, flag, constitution, and promoting the recognition of the Republic of Macedonia as a sovereign state around the world. Mr. Atanasoski is also in close contact with many diplomats and organizations regarding the current events in Macedonia. Parallel to his continual commitment to promote democracy in Macedonia, Mr. Atanasoski focused his efforts on founding the Macedonian World Congress in May of 1992. The MWC is an umbrella organization that fosters civil society and economic development, coordinates, provides technical assistance and supports emerging non-governmental organizations. He was elected President of the Macedonian World Congress of North America which is one of the largest and most influential non-governmental Macedonian organization in the world. His work in the MWC ranges from organizing humanitarian relief efforts to sponsoring historical works on Macedonia.

To emphasize the importance and firm belief in an independent media in a country with a government dominated press, Mr. Atanasoski co-founded, organized and established the first Macedonian world weekly newspaper, Makedonsko Sonce, in June 24,1994, which is open to all citizens' participation.

In 1994 Mr. Atanasoski was a candidate for President of Macedonia because he wanted to advance Macedonia's democracy, promote the economic system based on free market principles, and the state as a lawful entity. The main agenda of his campaign was to enhance the economic and social development of Macedonia and her people.

Since 1996, Mr. Atanasoski has been the president of the Macedonian Alliance political party (Makedonska Alijansa). This party is registered in Skopje, Republic of Macedonia. The Macedonian Alliance has a comprehensive plan for developing Macedonia's economy. In addition, it offers an extended hand to all Macedonians and minorities to participate in the prosperity of the Macedonia of the future.
