  CEREMONY FOR MACEDONIAN PEACEKEEPERS
WITHIN ALTHEA MISSION


Ceremony on occasion of the successful completion of the Macedonian Army (ARM) helicopter detachment participation in EUFOR-led peacekeeping mission "ALTHEA" in base Butmir, Bosnia&Herzegovina will be held Thursday in Petrovec army barracks "Straso Pindzur".
In the past two years, the ARM helicopter detachment carried out its first international peacekeeping mission, showing high level of training, professionalism and compatibility with EUFOR.
The ceremony is to be attended by ARM Deputy-Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Adil Gazafer, Joint Operational Command Commander, Major-General Zoran Dimov, and other guests.
During its mission, the ARM helicopter detachment was engaged in transport of troops, material-technical assets, VIPs, and other passengers for the needs of EUFOR.
Moreover, the Macedonian peacekeepers carried out tasks of search and rescue, along with medical evacuation at the entire territory of B&H together with the other contingents.

PROJECT "HOT CULTURE WAVE" BEGINS

Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with a number of national and local institutions, ensembles, cultural-artistic clubs, festivals, eminent artists, launches Wednesday project "Hot Culture Wave".
The project's goal is to provide the opportunity to citizens to see programs of national institutions and other programs of national interest, funded by the Ministry.
The program is divided in two parts - one on July 16-30 and the second on August 20-September 1 - encompassing Strumica, Radovis, Kriva Palanka, Delcevo, Kicevo, Debar, Gostivar, Veles, Demir Hisar, Kratovo, Demir Kapija, Makedonski Brod, Negotino, Berovo, Pehcevo, Probistip, Sveti Nikole, Valandovo, Dojran, Krusevo, Struga, Kocani, Kavadarci, Gevgelija, Kumanovo, and Tetovo. The final event will be held in Skopje.
The project includes performances by the Macedonian National Theatre, Skopje-based Drama Theatre, Skopje-based Albanian Theatre, Stip Theatre, Veles Theatre, Prilep Theatre, Macedonian Opera and Ballet, ensemble Tanec, Bitola Monmartre exhibitions, Macedonian Cinematheque.

  PARLIAMENT ADOPTS CHANGES AND SUPPLEMENTS TO 2008 BUDGET

The Parliament of Macedonia adopted Tuesday changes and supplements to the 2008 Budget with 67 votes in favour.
According to an elaboration of the budget rebalance, total incomes are planned at 144 billion and 706 million Denar, total expenditures are at the level of 150 billion and 371 million Denar and the deficit is assessed at 5 billion and 665 million Denar and is in framework of the projection of 1.5% of the GDP.
Budget surplus is intended for education, for alleviation of negative effects from increase in oil price, stimulation of employment, laid-off workers...
In the sphere of education 1.5 billion Denar will be used for implementation of obligatory secondary education, for the project “Computer for Every Child,” for free-of charge textbooks for socially endangered families, for new faculties and University of Information Society, free Internet access in dormitories.
750 million Denar are provided for proposed measures by the government for alleviation of the negative effects from increase in oil prices, mainly for subsidies for farmers for which 300 million denar are planned and income decrease based on road toll and registration amounting to 450 million Denar.
56 million Denar are allocated for stimulation of employment as well as financial support to employers for subsidies the health care contributions in the first 18 months for newly employed persons to 27 years of age and laid-off workers.
For new Ministry of Information Society and realisation of its project 231 million Denar are foreseen, 200 million Denar are planned for buying embassy in London and liaison offices in Japan and Kazakhstan, 20 million Denar for payment of career fee for civil servants, 21 billion Denar for regular payment of pensions, 1.615 billion Denar for allowance through Employment Agency, 18.142 billion Denar for financing the health services and 102 million Denar for fight against corruption.
The proposed changes and supplements reflect the continuity of government’s activity in realisation of the set economic goals for acceleration of the economic growth, improvement of the living standard, increase of employment, strengthened fight against corruption and intensifying the integrative processes in the EU and the NATO and at the same time their proposal and realisation represents a test and confirmation for successful economic programme of the government.
After passing the changes and supplements to the 2008 Budget, the legislators with 68 votes in favour adopted the program on Audit Body for EU Pre-Accession Funds in Macedonia.
