MEMORANDUM OF BUSINESS COMMUNITY - EXCELLENT INITIATIVE, PROVING THAT MACEDONIA
MOVES INTO RIGHT DIRECTION

Macedonia's business community promoted Tuesday a Memorandum, which urges more intensive cooperation with the government and suggests mechanisms for further economic development of the country.
the Memorandum of the Macedonian Business Community, inter alia, recommends more efficient use of subventions and EU programmes, improvement of the public bid procedure, transparency, minimisation of regulations and bureaucratic obstacles, strengthening the financial market and development of the crucial economic infrastructure.
The government should accept both recommendations and critiques from the business community, EU Ambassador to Macedonia Erwan Fouere said at the promotion.
- The business community's role is of vital importance. Listening of its suggestions is in favor and responsibility of the government, Fouere said.
The inflow of FDI has been going up in Macedonia, along with the interest in further investing, French Ambassador Bernard Valero said.
He considers the Memorandum as an excellent opportunity, which proves that Macedonia has been moving into the right direction.

MILOSOSKI-WIERSMA: NAME SHOULD NOT BE USED AS AN OBSTACLE FOR LAUNCHING MACEDONIA'S EU ENTRY TALKS

The name dispute should be settled, but not used as an obstacle for launching Macedonia' EU entry talks, Foreign Minister Antonio Milososki and member of the European Parliament (EP) Foreign Policy Committee Jan Marinus Wiersma agreed Tuesday in Brussels.
Macedonia has two priorities for this year, MIA's correspondent quoted Milososki as saying. To meet the eight benchmarks the European Commission (EC)'s recommended for the country to meet the standards and get a date for membership talks, and to fulfil the obligations for acquiring an EU free visa regime.
- Macedonia will work on convincing EC to recommend launching of the membership negotiations, Milososki said.
Referring to the Ireland's 'No' to the Lisbon Treaty, Milososki and Wiersma agreed that the situation should be dealt with and not used as an excuse for stopping the EU enlargement process.
- EP socialists are for resuming of the enlargement process and the integration of Macedonia, other countries of the region with EU, Wiersma said.
