GERMAN PRESIDENT KOEHLER
VISITS MACEDONIA
Upon the invitation of Macedonian President Branko Crvenkovski, German
Federal President Horst Koehler begins Thursday his two-day official visit
to the Republic of Macedonia.
Crvenkovski and Koehler will refer to further enhancement of bilateral
cooperation, with a special emphasis on intensification of economic
relations.
Talks will also focus on Macedonia's Euro-Atlantic integration, and
Germany's support in this regard, as well as regional developments.
Before the meeting, a welcoming ceremony with highest military honors will
be held at the Parliament's plateau.
CAREER AND EDUCATION
DAYS AT SKOPJE FAIR, "EDUCATIONAL RENDEZ-VOUS 2008" IN MOB
The 11th Career and Education Days under motto "Education - Investment for
the Future", and fair "Educational Rendez-Vous 2008" are held Thursday
through Saturday at Skopje Fair and the Macedonian Opera and Ballet
respectively.
The goal of Career and Education Days is to enable future academic citizens
to obtain all necessary information on domestic and foreign educational
institution, their study programs, terms and enrollment criteria,
possibilities of acquiring scholarships, and to facilitate the students'
choice.
A total of 126 state and private educational institutions from Macedonia and
abroad will be presented at the fair, 121 of which with their stands.
Macedonian state universities are among 95 domestic exhibitors, with the
exception of Tetovo State University, whereas 31 participants come from
Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Turkey, Greece, Hungary, Netherlands, Great
Britain and Norway.
About 60 presentations as planned are to be held during the three fair days,
along with expert round-table titled "Quality of Higher Education in
Macedonia" and workshop "Necessity and Possibilities for Professional
Training during Studies in Macedonia".
Skopje Fair and Skopje Educational Information Center organise the event.
Three-day high school educational event, fair "Educational Rendez-Vous
2008", organized by Youth Association of Secondary Vocational Schools in
Macedonia (MASSUM), under the auspices of the USAID-CEA and Ministry of
Education and Science project, will be held in the Macedonian Opera and
Ballet.
A total of 65 secondary vocational schools will be presented at stands. More
than 1,200 pupils will take part in a number of workshops, presentations,
competitions in job interviews, public speech, best marketing and business
plan, best reality school company, website, poster and video-commercial for
the school.
U.S. Ambassador to Macedonia Gillian Milovanovic, Minister of Education and
Science Sulejman Rusiti, and FON and Fifth Private High School founder Fijat
Canovski will deliver addresses at the event opening. |

UN MEDIATOR NIMETZ IN SKOPJE
UN mediator in Macedonia-Greece name talks Matthew Nimetz is to meet
Thursday in Skopje with Macedonian top officials.
In spite of the elections, Republic of Macedonia resumes the negotiations
regarding the differences with Greece over the use of its constitutional
name. This message, which was concluded at Wednesday's coordination meeting
by President Branko Crvenkovski, Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, Foreign
Affairs Minister Antonio Milososki and name negotiator Nikola Dimitrov, will
be conveyed to mediator Nimetz.
"The main message that will be conveyed to mediator Nimetz is that in spite
of the early parliamentary election, the negotiations on name dispute are
resuming. This position has been also endorsed by the political parties at
the last week leaders' meeting", President's Cabinet said in a press
release.
Following his Skopje visit, on Friday he is expected to arrive in Athens for
talks with Greek Prime Minister Costas Karamanlis and Foreign Affairs
Minister Dora Bakoyannis.
According to Skopje and Athens' announcements, the goal of these visits is
the UN mediator to hear the positions of both sides in relation to the
negotiation process after the Bucharest NATO Summit, where Greece vetoed
Macedonia's Alliance membership invitation. |
