POLETAN-COCOROVSKA TO BE EXTRADITED TO MACEDONIA TODAY

Macedonian national Stanislava Poletan-Cocorovska, who is accused of organizing the transport of half a ton of cocaine seized at border crossing Blace, is expected to be extradited by Serbian authorities to Macedonia on Thursday.
At the border crossing Tabanovce, Cocorovska is to be transferred to Macedonia under heavy security, after a four-month detention in Belgrade.
Justice Minister Mihajlo Manevski stated Tuesday that the Serbian Justice Ministry passed this decision upon the request of Macedonian bodies.
The Procesution Office expects for Cocorovska to shed light on the cocaine trafficking ring.
About four months ago, Macedonian police seized about 400kg of cocaine - the country's largest-ever haul of the drug.
Officers found the cocaine, which has a street value of more than $50m, hidden in 60 paint tins on a lorry which was crossing from Kosovo.
A police spokesman said the narcotics - high-quality Venezuelan cocaine - were likely bound for Greece.
- The drug was packed in paint containers and was coming from Venezuela, through Montenegro, Kosovo, being aimed at Greece, spokesman Ivo Kotevski said.
The drugs were loaded at the port city of Bar in Montenegro and the truck was stopped on the border between Macedonia and Kosovo at the town of Blace, some 20km north of the capital, Skopje.
The lorry driver, Alija Azirovic is in custody, while Thessaloniki police have issued arrest warrant for three Greeks for alleged masterminding of the drug smuggling.

9TH OF MAY -EUROPE DAY AND DAY OF VICTORY AGAINST FASCISM

A series of manifestations will be staged today in the European capitals to mark 9th of May - The Europe Day and the Day of Victory against Fascism.
Macedonian Parliament Speaker, Ljubisha Georgievski, has invited the Ambassadors accredited to Macedonia; representing the countries whose soldiers fought on the Macedonian territory during the First World War; to lay flowers at the military cemeteries located at Bitola's outskirts.

While most of the European capitals will be celebrating the Europe Day, a military parade will be staged at the Moscow's Red Square to mark the 62nd anniversary of the end of WWII and victory over fascism.
On 9 May, 1945 at Karlshorst, near Berlin, the Wehrmacht signed unconditional surrender to the Russians. President Truman and Churchill declared 8 May to be 'VE Day', the day of victory in Europe.
The signatories for the German High Command were Grand Admiral von Freiburg ; General Hans-Jurgen Strümpf, Head of the German Airforce, and Field marshal Keital. The capitulation was submitted to the Soviet Marshal Georgy Zhukov, in the presence of the British Marshal Arthur Tedder.
This global conflict split a majority of the world's nations into two opposing camps: the Allies and the Axis. Spanning much of the globe, World War II resulted in the deaths of over 50 million people, making it the deadliest conflict in human history. Nearly two-thirds of those killed in the war were civilians and approximately six million European Jews were killed in the Holocaust.
World War II was the most widespread war humanity has ever experienced, mobilizing over 100 million soldiers from 61 nations, with hostilities covering over 20 million km². The total war erased the distinction between civil and military resources and saw the complete mobilization of a nation's economic, industrial, and scientific capabilities for the purposes of the war effort.
Vast war damages in Europe only were estimated to $260 billion.
