US URGE TO CLOSE THE KOSOVO ISSUE BY JUNE 2007, ROSEMARY DICARLO

USA urge the Kosovo issue to be finalised no later than June 2007, while in the meantime, in the weeks to come, they will resume negotiations with Security Council members sates, as well as with Serbia and Kosovo, stated for BBC Rosemary DiCarlo, Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs.
DiCarlo, participating in Contact Group's talks for Kosovo in London, failed to answer whether an agreement had been reached on Kosovo's future status over the course of the London meetings. Nevertheless, she confirmed that, unlike Washington, Moscow officially refuses to back Martti Ahtisaari's blueprint.
According to the US deputy secretary, no speculations are needed considering Russia's reaction in the upcoming weeks, nor speculations on US' response to that.
- It is instrumental that US would like to resume the negotiations in order to settle the Kosovo issue as soon as possible and in a most appropriate manner, stated DiCarlo, adding that "everybody should work for the future, instead keep on dealing with Balkans'Â tragic past".
