  HOW MUCH ARE WE PREPARED TO TACKLE WITH THE BIRD FLU?

World institution are warning that in the XXI century surely there will pandemic of the bird flu, and Macedonia still doesn’t have medicines, neither quarantine facilities for battle with this deadly virus. The supplied 1.000 boxes of medicine “tamiflu” will be enough for healing just 500 persons, who would eventually be diseased from this illness.
“If the bird flu appears in our region we are ready. There are enough medicines and prophylactics and the laboratories are also fully equipped. If it is necessary we will supply and new quantities of medicines and other stuffs. In the quarantine facilities, which are not yet define suspicious cases will be observing from 10 to 14 days, but won’t be cured”, the president of the Commission of observing the bird flu d-r Jovanka Kostovska stated on the press conference.
Representatives of the State veterinarian inspectorate and the hunters from Ohrid are monitoring the birds over Ohrid Lake. The hunters shot around 25 wild birds, ducks, cormorants and other. The veterinarian took examples, which were sent for analysis in Skopje. According to the state veterinarian inspector Sterjo Labroski, there are no signs or any kind of suspicion for illness of the birds, but still they will wait for the official confirmation of that after the laboratories’ analysis and research in Skopje.
It is forecasted that this kind of observing of the wild birds to be exert in the net period and in the regions of Sini Lirovi by the village Belchista, as well as on the artificial accumulations, especially in Globocica.
 
     
  INITIATIVE ABOUT BOSKOVSKI AND TARCHULOSKI TO BE TRIED IN MACEDONIA

The association of citizens for support of Ljube Boshkovski led an initiative together with the four cases from the Hague Tribunal for war crimes to be returned as well as the case of Boshkovski and Tarchulovski.
“We’re expecting support by the Government but so far we didn’t receive any answer from letter because it’s been sent only three days ago”, the president of the Association, Mane Jakovlevski stated on the press conference. Goran Mitevski, member of the Association stated that the demand for possibility of Boshkovski to defend himself from freedeom depends from the decision by the Court of Appeal and by the new Government guarantees, which should be delivered to the Hague Tribunal.
 
     
 

RENEWAL OF THE DIALOG BETWEEN MOC-SOC

During the visit to Belgrade, as a guest on the conference of the Democratic party, the prime minister Vlado Buckovski and the president of Serbia, Boris Tadic, called the Macedonian orthodox church and the Serbian orthodox church to renew the dialog about resolving the church dispute.
“Mutual interest is among the two countries not to have any unresolved issue”, has been said in the mutual statements by Vlado Buckovski and Boris Tadic.

 
     
  THERE IS NO VETO FOR THE BEEF IMPORT FROM CROATIA

According to the chief of the Veterinarian management, Slobodan Chokrevski, there is no reason of panic from the eventual appearance of mad cow disease in the country despite the news about the diseased cow in Croatia. The tests made from the examples, which have shown positive result in Croatia, still are not final nor are sure evidence that the cow is ill. That’s why there won’t be veto for beef import from Croatia.
Slobodan Chokrevski explained that the mad cow disease is not and infective disease, and that the infection can not be transferred by contact from animal to animal or to man, but through the food. Cause of the mad cow disease is thermo stabile bacteria. According to Chokrevski few years ago Republic of Macedonia established system of monitoring and induct veto for beef import from the countries that don’t have this kind of a system.
 
     
 

MODIFICATION OF THE OWNING STRUCTURE IN “VECER”

Recently the daily newspaper “Vecer” has new owners.
“The shares of the newspaper have been sold in once. Still is too late to talk about the sum. In the next 45 days the activities about the precision of the debt and of the inquiry should be finished. That practically means that the work will be scanned in order to receive the whole picture”, said Bojo Andreski on the press-conference, on of the four new owners of the newspaper “Vecer”, otherwise owner of the European university.
“The number of the employees won’t be reduced but the possibilities for some new employing won’t be expelled. The next debts that should precisely be confirmed on later than 45 days, according to the new owners, are not concerning, neither are cause for buying of the newspaper. ”Vecer” is on good bases, but need additional financial means”, Andreski explained. Boban Bogdanovski is named for a new director of the newspaper and Petar ribarski stays in the management team.

 
     
  FESTIVAL OF ALL MACEDONIAN CULTURE AND FOLKLORE

The Cultural center “Skrb i Uteha”, in collaboration with the Youth cultural center are inviting you on the Festival of the All Macedonian culture and folklore Dionysus’ commemoration “Minu Ugrinovska2006”, which will be held on 24.02.2006 in the cinema ”Frosina”- Youth cultural center.
The opening ceremony will be at 7.30pm with the speech by Professor Petre Bashevski, after which the movie “Stone between to fields” by Vlade Denchov,Tihomir Stojanovski, F.P Dion and MRTV will be presented. At 8.30pm the theatre “Skrb i Uteha“ will appear with the play “Kiss me Chernodrniski” by T. Stojanovski. Loredana Pasku and the Macedonian folklore group “Sonce” from Romania will appear at 9.30pm, and at 10.00pm the theatre “Skrb i Uteha” will appear with “Denonosii”- play scenes. On Saturday on 25.2.2006 a visit of the village Rezanovce, Kumanovo, at the Ethnological museum (collection of 600 Macedonian national clothes, aprons and carpets) is organized in the church “St. Jovan Opsecen” in Rezanovce – Kumanovo, at priest Zlatko Davidovski. At 7.30pm in the cinema “Frosina”, MKC, the folklore group “Feniks”, village Mosomishte (Pirin, Bulgaria) will appear, after which the presentation of the books of the Macedonians from Bulgaria: “Makedoniada” by Ivan G. Singartijski will follow with an introduction by Vangel Bozinovski. At 8.45pm the book: “The tongue of St. Cyril and Metody” by Sarisa Paraos, introduction by Serafim Gocev will be present. At 9.10pm the authentic Macedonian music “Golo Brdo’’, Albania will follow and then the authentic Macedonian music “Sonce” from the Rodops,, Republic of Bulgaria will appear. At 10.20pm the theatre “Skrb i Uteha” with “Denonosii”- play scenes will appear.

  DAYS OF THE MACEDONIAN CULTURE IN AUSTRALIA

Recently the minister of culture, Blagoja Stefanovski met the members of the Macedonian community in Melbourne. The group “Sintezis”, the choir “St. Zlata Meglenska”, as well as the ambassador of the Republic of Macedonia in Australia, Viktor Gaber also attended this meeting. The meeting was realized in the frames of “The days of the Macedonian culture in Australia”, which patron is the Ministry of culture.   BASESCU, CRVENKOVSKI MET

Romania and Macedonia have no open issues and future cooperation should focus on economy, Macedonian and Romanian Presidents Branko Crvenkovski and Traian Basescu assessed after Monday's meeting in Bucharest, MIA's correspondent reports.
Crvenkovski, who has been welcomed with highest state honours in front of the presidential palace in Bucharest, stated that Macedonia and Romania belong to the same region and that's why they discussed some current regional issues.
"I am glad that we share identical positions for certain issues important for the region," Branko Crvenkovski said.
Romanian President Basescu said that Romania will continue to support Macedonia in the efforts for sooner admission in the Euro-Atlantic structures. "We are prepared to share our experiences in European integration," Basescu stressed.
The two presidents discussed about Kosovo. "The Kosovo borders should not be changed and the talks between Belgrade and Pristina should continue," Romanian President Basescu said.
President Branko Crvenkovski is scheduled to meet Romanian Prime Minister Calin Popescu-Tariceanu, Chairmen of the Senate, Chamber of Deputies Nikolae Vakaroyu and Adrian Nastase.
Crvenkovski will also have meetings with Bucharest Mayor Adrian Videanu, as well as Romanian Patriarch Teoktist.
Macedonian delegation includes Labor, Social Policy Minister Stevce Jakimovski, who will sign an agreement on social insurance with his Romanian counterpart Gheorghe Barbu.
The delegation will wrap up its visit to Romania by a meeting with representatives of Macedonian minority at the Macedonian Embassy in Bucharest.

FAIR AND DEMOCRATIC ELECTIONS KEY TEST FOR MACEDONIA, FOUERE SAYS

The European Union wishes to see fair and democratic elections in Macedonia this year which is a key test for the country, EU Ambassador to Macedonia Erwan Fouere said during his visit to St. Clement of Ohrid National and University Library.
"Certainly the EU wishes to see best possible elections in Macedonia this year. It is a key test for the country and all political parties are responsible in providing respect to the best possible standards," Fouere said.
He said that the EU mission will work with all political parties and the government aimed at assessing how the international community could contribute in holding fair and democratic elections mainly through training, education of voters and election observation mission.
"At the end of the day the responsibility in conducting the best possible elections bear the political parties and the citizens," Fouere said.
In regard to the question whether he has any message to leaders of DUI and DPA Ali Ahmeti and Arben Xhaferi, Fouere said that at the moment he is satisfied that a dialogue exists which is very important for strengthening and improving the atmosphere in the process of preparation for the elections.
"It is important that all political powers to be included in process and to provide full respect to the standards on local level," Fouere said.
EU Ambassador Monday has the opportunity to be introduced with literary treasure in the National and University Library. He has seen the rare collections and holdings of old Slavic and oriental manuscripts, old and rare books.
