  THE MACEDONIAN-UKRAINIAN COOPERATION

Ukraine is interested in entering the Macedonian energy market, especially in the projects linked to the construction of the oil pipeline and natural gas system. Because of this interest, representatives from state firms and private enterprises will visit Macedonia, in order to look over the possibilities of investing in this sphere. This is what was agreed on in the meeting of the presidents of Macedonia and Ukraine, Branko Crvenkovski and Viktor Jushcenko.
On the meeting in Kiev, despite the interest shown for the energy market, what was most talked about the possibilities of increasing the economic cooperation, during which it was agreed that the coordinators of the cooperation should be the deputy prime minister of both countries.
 
     
  BUCKOVSKI IN BUDAPEST

“Relations between Macedonia and The Republic of Hungary are well and friendly, and the building of new economic bridges, surely is on of the best ways for the deepening of the overall bilateral relations between our two countries”, stated the Macedonian Prime Minister Vlado Buckovski, at the Macedonian-Hungarian forum held in Budapest. During which Buckovski added that Macedonia is interested in the expansion of the cooperation with Hungary, above all, the activities within the framework of the Central-European initiative (CEI), trough joint projects in multiple areas, like the construction of the Corridors 8 and 10, as well as within the Danube and Segedin process, especially trough the Euro regions and programs for the protection of the environment. The Prime Minister Buckovski underlined that Macedonia expects further support by The Republic of Hungary in the process of the fulfillment of the strategic objectives of our country for the integration in the EU and NATO.
 
     
  MACDONIA’S CAPACITY FOR REFORMS

The World Bank is convinced that on this round of negotiations, which already started, it will manage to brake a deal with the Macedonian Government for the new three year PDPL arrangement for the development policies and that Macedonia will get the loan in October of this year. This was announced by the mission chief of the World Bank, Bruce Cortny during his meeting with his colleague, the minister of finance Nikola Popovski.
The loan will cover a three year period, which will be filled with reforms in several areas for which the Government, as Cortny stated, has the capacity.
 
     
  MACEDONIA IS HEADING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION

Most of the citizens think that Macedonia is heading in the wrong direction despite the announced reforms in the economy, it was pointed out in the early warning report about Macedonia of the Development Program of UN. According to 77% of the citizens, a number one problem in the country is unemployment. On the other hand, most of ethnic Albanians 47,7 % figure that Macedonia is heading in the wrong direction.
In the analyses it’s pointed out that the situation is further burdened by the question of the official use of national symbols on a local level, a question that caused a lively debate, especially with the interpretations of the Ohrid framework agreement.
In relation to the name dispute with Greece, 69,8% of the citizens stated that the constitutional name should apply both for Greece and International Community. With this it is confirmed that the majority of the citizens is against the double formula.
 
     
 

SONK AND THE GOVERNMENT STILL HAVEN’T REACHED AN AGREEMENT

The Government and the Labor Unions for education, science and culture- SONK didn’t settle on the minimal wage, and the negotiations are postponed for next week. The negotiations between Buckovski and the presidents of the two Labor Unions, Dojcin Cvetanovski and Risto Ajtov, is the result of the one day strike on which the public servants asked for an increase in wages. On the meeting with Buckovski it was agreed that every Labor Union should negotiate with the appropriate minister and to take a common position, which later will be come a suggestion which will go on the Cabinet meeting.

 
     
 

MACEDONIAN PAINTERS IN PARIS

The academic painters Vladimir Georgievski and Rubens Korubin will reside in the studio “Site Art” in Paris, in the part which the accommodations for artists who come from around world are.
Vlado Georgievski is going to Paris on invitation by a French curator and uses the studio rented by Frenchman. Rubens Korubin will stay in the studio for two months, a stay which was provided to him by the Ministry of culture.

 
     
  A SPECIAL RECOGNITION FOR “BALKANKAN”

The Macedonian movie “Balkankan” by the director Darko Mitrevski was our only representative at the 27th Moscow international film festival. This movie of ours is coming back with a special recognition by the association of film critics of Russia.
On this film festival the golden “St. George”, an award for best picture, was won by the Russian movie “Dreaming of Space”. The silver went to the best director the German Thomas Witenberg.
Among the large number of film guests the French actress Jana Moro was also present, to whom the special award “Stanislawsky” for contribution in acting and dedication of the School of the great Russian mag awarded.
 
     
  THE MOVING OF THE CITY HOSPITAL IS STILL UNDECIDED

More than 10.000 citizens have signed since the beginning of this month the petition against the moving of the City Hospital in the Military Hospital, after it’ll become a part of the public healthcare. On the other hand, while the citizens are signing for the salvation of the hospital, in the Military Hospital an unannounced meeting between the representatives of the ministries of defense and health, and the directors of the Military and City Hospital took place.   MACEDONIA, KOSOVO REACH AGREEMENT ON CUSTOMS DUTIES


Oil, eggs, onion, cabbage, paprika and wine will be subject to customs duties when entering Kosovo starting from July 1, Vice-Premier Minco Jordanov and Minister of Economy Fatmir Besimi informed Wednesday.
These industrial and agricultural products will be subject to customs duties in a period of 2,5 years, followed by their exemption on January 1, 2008. The customs duty until the end of 2005 will stand at 8 percent, decreased to 7 percent in 2006, and 6 percent in 2007.
According to the agreement, which should be officially signed in the course of next week, Kosovo products will enter into Macedonia without customs duties, due to the Kosovo exchange deficit.
As Minister Besimi said, the introduction of customs duties for agricultural products did not jeopardize the interests of Macedonian farmers.
Jordanov informed that the free trade principle was applied in the agreement, which was an interim stage until the beginning of the negotiations for signing of a multilateral agreement in Southeast Europe for regional trade liberalization.
Kosovo has signed similar agreement with Albania, and has ongoing negotiations with Bosnia/Herzegovina and Croatia.

AGREEMENT FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SKOPJE BYPASS MOTORWAY SIGNED WITH GREEK COMPANY TERNA


Macedonian Fund for National and Regional Roads and Greek Company Terna Wednesday signed an agreement for construction of 'Orizari - Saraj' bypass motorway.
Director of Fund for National and Regional Roads Ljuljim Xhemaili and executive manager of Terna Tagas Teodoros signed the agreement.
Skopje bypass motorway, section 'Orizari' - 'Saraj', in length of 11.79 km is part of the trans-European road corridor VIII. This section presents continuation of the section 'Hipodrom' - Orizari' financed by the EIB.
EBRD finances 70 percent and EIB 30% of the construction and Fund for National and Regional Roads will cover the VAT of 18%.
Terna has already begun with the activities on the terrain and the construction should be finished over a 36-month time period.
The north bypass is a planned 25-km highway ring around Skopje and costs 135 million Euro.
