  Support for development of the spiritual life of the Macedonians

With written blessing from the Metropolitan European Mr. Gorazd, first meeting of the Macedonian Orthodox Church Perish “St. Stefan” was held in Utrecht on February 20, after its dislocation from the North Holland (Groningen) to the Central Holland (Utrecht) where was registered. On this meeting were the President and the representatives from the club-members of the Macedonian community in Holland and of the World Macedonian Congress.
Miss Sonja Mitrinovska was chosen unanimous for the president and for the secretary was chosen Mr. Riste Tegov. After the election, Miss Mitrinovska has explained the essence for the dislocation of the MPCO “St. Stefan” from Groningen to Utrecht.
“ In continuity, we are making efforts for maintaining and developing of the spiritual church life of the Macedonians in Holland” – said Mitrinovska.
 
     
  From the ground up to the construction of housing and trading objects

Following the needs of the modern living and the trend of the high specialization of the exhibitions, the Exhibition of Skopje has open the second fairy manifestation - Exhibition for construction, building materials and building mechanization “Civil engineering 2005” and the third International fair of energetic, effective, ecologic and economic technique, technology and equipment “Energetic 2005”.
The manifestation was open by the Minister of transportation and connections, Dzemail Mehazi. The Vice-premier of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia; Mincho Jordanov was the honorary guest.
 
     
  Jubilee and successes of the Cardiology Hospital “Fillip the Second”

The Cardiology Hospital “Fillip the Second” has celebrated the important jubilee – five years of its existence and making successes. The academician Doctor Zan Miterv who is the director of this hospital has held a speech.
During its existence, in this center are made more than 2.500 operations of open heart, with approximately 1.802 bay pass operations as well as definitive treatment of the coronary disease, in which 440 patients are operated with active heart and 300 in difficult stadium of ishemic dilatative cardiomiopatia. For the successes of the Doctor Mitrev and the Cardiology Hospital “Fillip the Second” (the only health institution of this kind in our state) are talking many international recognitions and acquired world fame.
 
     
  Week of the struggle against the cancer

On the organized press conference on the occasion of the “ week of the struggle against the cancer “, the deputy director of the Clinic center, Andreja Arsovski has pointed out that the number of the patients with cancer is increasing and that yearly 6000 new cases are discovered in Macedonia. He said that the early discovering of the cancer is very important, because in these cases the success is bigger in-patient treatments than the diagnosis of the cancer in the progressive stadium.
Every year more than ten million new cases of people with cancer are discovered in the world.
“ Expectations are that in 2020, 15 million new cases will be discover, yearly. Today in the world, cancer is causing death at approximately six million persons” – has pointed out Arsovski.  
 
     
 

Religious education in the schools

The President of the Republic of Macedonia, Branko Crvenkovski have met with the representatives of the religious communities on February 28 and they have decided to create mutual committee which will put the University of theology and the high schools of theology in the education system. In this case the religious education will be also present in the primary schools.
The initiator of this meeting was the Head of the Macedonian Orthodox Church, Mr. Mr. Stefan.   MACEDONIAN COMMERCIAL OFFICE IN KOSOVO OPENS


Macedonian Prime Minister Vlado Buckovski opened Wednesday the Macedonian Commercial Office in Pristina that should be a basis for intensifying the economic cooperation between Macedonia and Kosovo.
Buckovski said that the Office would represent the interests and possibilities for economic-trade cooperation between Macedonia and Kosovo.
"We could attract foreign investments with joint efforts and will enable opening of new jobs for the citizens. We welcome this process as a Government, and we will support the economic and trade cooperation in the frameworks of our authorizations", Buckovski said.
According to him, Macedonian Commercial Office in Pristina is one of the institutional forms that should enable boosting of the economic activity, and the cooperation between compatible economies that have numerous interests.
He said that the opening of the Office aims at boosting of foreign-trade exchange, joint investments and financial processes in general, which would also improve the economic performances of the region.
Head of UNMIK Soren Jessen Petersen and Kosovo's Prime Minister Ramus Hardinaj attended the opening ceremony.

LOCAL ELECTION CAMPAIGN BEGINS

 
A total of 379 candidates will compete in the mayor's race at the local elections, due to be held on March 13.
The election campaign begins on Monday, February 21 and will last for 20 days, while the election silence will begin on March 11 at midnight.
According to the new territorial organization of the local self-government units, the elections will be conducted in 84 municipalities, plus the city of Skopje.
A candidate that receives majority of one-third of municipality votes will be elected mayor in the first round.
In case none of the candidates receives the necessary majority, two candidates with most votes will compete in the second round, the winner being the one with more votes.
Councilors will be elected in one round according to the proportional model.
The election commission must publish the official results within 3 days from the end of the election process.
