Letter from Bush to
Crvenkovski
The president of the Republic of Macedonia, Branko Crvenkovski has received
letter from the President of the United States of America, George Bush, on
December 10 2004, in which is written “ I highly appreciate the relations
between our countries and I expect that I will work with You in my second
mandate in order to create more secure and better world. With the
recognition of the constitutional name of the Republic of Macedonia, my
intention was to point out the support of the United States of America for
stable multiethnic, democratic Macedonia, in the existing borders. I am
delighted that my decision was friendly accepted in Macedonia. The results
of the referendum on November 7, presents conformation of the will of the
citizens of the Republic of Macedonia to continue walking forward, into
Europe, into full membership in NATO and European Union. You have my
support”. |

Easier visa regime for EU
The visas will be less expensive for sure and visas for some categories of
citizens might be revoke. In the beginning of 2005 the European Commission
will determine the phases, which will lead trough liberalization of the visa
regime. According to the high European diplomat, first results will be
announced in Jun 2005, at the end of the meeting of Luxemburg with EU.
“Europe is becoming more aware that the criminals don’t need visas. It’s
clear that the countries from West Balkan are showing results in the battle
against organized criminal and corruption. I am convinced that the
discussions for easier visa regime will start soon”, says Sorin Sterie,
expert for justice and internal affairs in the Stability Pact. |

Third secretariat in the Government
The Governmental Sector for Euro integration soon will become Secretariat
for Euro integration and it will be third secretariat in the Government.
This transformation is according to Slovenian model and will represent its
modification, by recommendation of the DFID (British help for reform in the
administration in Macedonia).
It is expected this Secretariat to start working in February, after adoption
of the changes of the Law for Government, which are going to happen at the
end of January. According to the Government the Secretariat will be formed
as part of the preparations for negotiation process for membership in EU.
But that will be possible after opinions of EU for the given answers on the
questionnaire. |

Daily Center for the children from the streets
In the kindergarten “Veseli Cvetovi” (Happy flowers) in the settlement
Karpos Daily Center for the children from the streets was opened. At this
moment thirty children are sheltered, all of them are from Roma population,
at the age of 6 till 15 years old, which were taken from the crossroads by
the mobile teams of the Ministry of labor and social policy in the last
three weeks. The Center will work from Monday till Friday, from 8 am till 6
pm. During this time children will be fully protected and with them will
work social workers, psychologists, pedagogues and doctors. |

Round table of “message”
The Republic Center
for support of the persons with intellectual disabilities – “Message” in the
Club of the Parliamentarians has held Round table on subject “Supporting of
the employment for the persons with intellectual disabilities in the
Republic of Macedonia. This round table was organized as part of the
national campaign RCPLIP – “Message” with motto “What about my rights?”.
Before the beginning of this discussion were rewarded the medallion
“December the 3rd” as well as recognitions to the individuals, institutions
and organizations, which have given their contribution and support for
development of the rights of the persons with intellectual disabilities,
during the 2004. On this occasion the Reduction of the “Macedonian Sun” was
rewarded with this kind of recognition. |

EU AND NATO INTEGRATION, ECONOMIC
DEVELOPMENT AND FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT - NEW GOVERNMENT PRIORITIES
"The Government key priorities in the next two years will be
acceleration of the process for integration with NATO and EU, intensifying
of the economic development, reforms in the judicial system, fight against
crime and corruption and consistent implementation of the Framework
Agreement," designate Vlado Buckovski said in the explanation of the new
Government cabinet programme in front of the MPs.
"The Government that I propose offers a clear concept for the country's
future and its development, but it is aware of the difficulties that the
Republic of Macedonia and all citizens are facing with," he added.
"This Government promises that within its mandate in 2006 Macedonia will
receive an invitation for NATO membership. It promises that the citizens -
students, tourists and businessmen, will be allowed to travel freely in the
European countries with no difficulties regarding the Schengen visa regime.
This Government promises that by the end of its mandate Macedonia will
obtain a status of a candidate country for EU membership and will begin the
negotiations for full-fledged membership in the Union," Buckovski said.
He expects that Macedonia will receive an invitation for EU membership
during the mandate of the next government, which will be composed after the
next parliamentary elections.
"This Government promises that it will conduct the long-expected reform in
the judicial system, as it will become more efficient," Buckovski pointed
out.
He promised that the Government would be opened for a dialogue with
businessmen and their chambers, with the opposition, experts and all people
of good will who want to give constructive contribution in more accelerate
society's development.
Buckovski pointed that the Government would consistently defend and respect
the principles on which the Republic of Macedonia was founded as independent
and sovereign country, while its work would be based on the respect of
democracy, rule of law and guarantee of the human rights and freedoms.
